Fun News

I'm finally able to share the first card I've created which has been published!  My card, "Celebrate Birthday", was included in the 365 Cards Special Issue of Paper Crafts Magazine available November 2011.  It was so exciting to receive the acceptance email all those months ago and it has been a long wait to finally see it in print.

Feelin' Blue - Postage Stamp Thank You Card

This card totally has me feeling blue :(.  I struggled with it start to finish, and I don't know if it's because of that, or what, but I just don't like it.  So why post it?  I'm hoping if I look at it a little more it will grow on me.

I thought the idea of a postage stamp card would be cute, but I just couldn't get it to look how I wanted it to look.  I'm not sure if Fanfare was the paper pack I really wanted to use on this.

The Sunny Yellow paper looks a little sunnier in person.  I wanted to add some ribbon or something, but couldn't work it out.  This one has me feeling like I'd like a "do over".

Oh well. Better luck next time :).

365 Cards - Day 77 White Space Challenge

I found a new challenge blog which is really ambitious - a new challenge every day!  It's 365 Cards.  The card I created is based on the White Space Challenge, which is basically to keep all decorations on one half of your card.  I've been in a "Clean and Simple" mood lately, so this appealed to me.  Here's my design:

I think I might make a bunch of these up to give as a Teacher Gift this year.  The whole design started from me playing around with Close To My Heart's 1.25" Circle Punch.  I realized you could make a cute apple.

To make the apple, punch two circles - one red (Tulip) and one green (Clover Meadow).  Then use the punch on the red circle to take the "bite" out of the apple.  Punch the green circle a second time to make the leaf.  Then cut a small strip of green to be the stem and that's it.  I mounted my apple on top of a 2" Black scallop cut-out.

The stamped images came from the Classmate Alphabet Stamp Set.  Thanks for stopping by!
